PodunkAnnie’s was never just about opening a store. I opened these doors soon after losing my daughter, Annabelle. PodunkAnnie’s is proof of that for me. It grew out of tremendous loss, but I never wanted it to be defined by sadness. I wanted it to be filled with life—color, laughter, independence, a little rebellion, and women encouraging other women to be exactly who they are. So wherever life has you today, don’t give up. When I first dreamed up this business, I knew I wanted a mascot that reflected the place that shaped me. Back then, our business was simply called Podunks, and our mascot was a little boy possum who represented our humble beginnings and our down-home spirit. As our family grew, so did our business. When we renamed the company PodunkAnnie's after our daughter, Annabelle, it only felt right that our mascot grew with us. So our little possum got a ponytail and became the face of PodunkAnnie's. But our possum has always meant more than a logo. She's a reminder of where we came from. She represents hard work, family, a little Southern quirkiness, and the belief that you should never forget your roots—even as your dreams grow bigger.
