Cecil & James: Southern Grit, Classic Fit At PodunkAnnie's, we pride ourselves on spotlighting brands that don’t just make clothes — they tell stories. Cecil & James is one of those rare gems that weaves legacy, craftsmanship, and southern soul into every stitch. If you haven’t met them yet, let us make the introduction. The Story Behind the Stitch Cecil & James was born out of a desire to honor hard-earned heritage. Named after two grandfathers — one a weathered rancher, the other a dapper gentleman with a fondness for fine fabrics — the brand strikes a balance between rugged utility and refined style. Their pieces are made for people who put their hands to work but still know how to clean up for Sunday supper. It’s not fast fashion. It’s slow, steady, and steeped in meaning. What Sets Cecil & James Apart? 1. Purposeful Design: Every garment has a job to do. Whether it’s a chore coat that can take a beating or a flannel that fits just right under a denim jacket, these clothes are made with intention. Practical, yes. But they also turn heads in the best kind of way. 2. Heirloom Quality: Think stitched-to-last, not mass-produced. Cecil & James believes your clothes should stick around as long as your stories do. That’s why they use durable materials and time-honored techniques passed down through generations. 3. Southern Roots, American Made: Their production is proudly USA-based, and you can feel the southern influence in every piece — warm earth tones, simple silhouettes, and a touch of grit. Who It’s For Cecil & James isn’t just for cowboys or creatives — it’s for the modern soul who values the past. It’s for the woman who wears her granddad’s belt buckle with a linen dress. It’s for the man who can drive a tractor, mend a fence, and still appreciate a good bourbon and better music. Their style works whether you’re tailgating in Tennessee, hiking in the Hill Country, or just looking for clothes that mean something. Why We Love It Here at PodunkAnnie's, we’re suckers for a good backstory, especially one rooted in family and place. Cecil & James brings that spirit to life in every button and seam. It’s the kind of brand that feels like home — just with better pockets. So if you're chasing a look that’s timeless, tough, and full of soul, Cecil & James might just be your new old favorite. This Possum Cowboy Don't Give a Funk
At PodunkAnnie's one of our main goals has always been to feature talented artists and makers with unique perspectives and southern flare. Brooke Brown, creator of Cluster Funk Studio, is one of those. In a world of cookie-cutter brands and overly polished aesthetics, Cluster Funk crashes onto the scene with a wildly refreshing vibe—equal parts rebellious, unapologetic, and brilliantly chaotic. It’s not just a brand. It’s an energy. A beautifully messy declaration that life doesn’t have to be neat to be meaningful. Cluster Funk Studio is an eclectic mix of illustration, design, and printmaking. Artist and designer, Brooke uses limited color palettes, textures, and layers to create a midcentury printing press aesthetic mixed with contemporary themes. She hand draws everything in Illustrator and Photoshop. Brown explores themes of country/western and southern identity in her works. Most include a subtle sense of humor to create unique pieces. She is most known for her western critters crop tops/shirts and illustrations. This series plays off of the themes of spaghetti westerns that Brown used to watch every Saturday with her grandfather. She includes child-like elements along with adult themes to honor her late grandfather as well as her childhood. These pieces bring up a sense of nostalgia and fun that our customers love. The Aesthetic: Wild, Western, and a Little Woo-Woo Cluster Funk leans into a style that’s hard to pin down—and that’s what makes it magnetic. Imagine this: sun-bleached desert tones layered with psychedelic prints, chunky turquoise rings next to celestial tattoos, fringe jackets and graphic tees that say what you’re really thinking. It’s western boho, with a cosmic twist and a rock-and-roll heart. You won’t find perfection here—and that’s the point. Cluster Funk celebrates the funky imperfections of real life: the road trips that go sideways, the late-night epiphanies, the outfits that make you feel like you. It’s an eclectic, fearless celebration of individuality. Who’s It For? Cluster Funk is for the woman who doesn’t ask for permission. She dances in the dust, mixes patterns like a pro, and believes that boldness is a virtue. She’s spiritual and sarcastic. Her playlist goes from Fleetwood Mac to Megan Thee Stallion. She’s over the minimalism trend—and ready to take up space, both stylistically and energetically. Why It Works Because it’s real. Because it’s raw. Because in a time when so many brands are trying to fit in, Cluster Funk is proudly standing out. In every thread, texture, and tone, you feel the brand’s philosophy: be loud, be proud, be a little messy. And most of all, be you. Final Word If you’re craving a brand that reflects your inner wild child, that lets you layer on the weird and the wonderful, and that’s not afraid to shake up the status quo—Cluster Funk might just be your spiritual home. So go ahead. Embrace the funk. Let the cluster unfold. And remember: chaos has never looked so good. All Cluster Funk is archival and printed in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
